Eastern Promise - The Podcast
‘Eastern Promise‘ explores the full potential of the East of England. We talk to experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, disrupters and more, finding out why the Eastern region is the best place in the UK to start, run and grow a business. From architecture to zoology, every business has a place here, with Mike Rigby as your guide on this audio journey, celebrating and promoting our region. Eastern Promise also features the Plug Board; where a panel of three get to plug their own business, event or project in exchange for giving a plug to someone else in return. And there‘s also a bit of lighthearted audience participation in ‘CrowdSourcery’, where folk from across the East of England - and even beyond! - choose their favourite things on a given theme to share and celebrate! You can contact Mike at podcast@easternpromise.org.uk.

BEST OF THE GUESTS: Emma Fletcher (Swaffham Prior District Heating)
Friday Apr 14, 2023
Friday Apr 14, 2023
The Swaffham Prior Community Land Trust #districtheating scheme is a trailblazer for the #eastofengland, if not the #UK, and it was a huge pleasure to chat with the Chair of the #CLT Emma Fletcher, about the scheme.
Though District Heating schemes are common on the continent, they are less so here in Britain. Even so, the Swaffham Prior scheme in #cambridgeshire has really come into its own since the huge pressure on energy costs became apparent. Emma and I also discuss housing and her then day job as MD of Evera Homes, where she shares her insightful and highly thoughtful prescription for what's needed. This interview initially went out in two parts last year and is presented here as recorded.
I'm grateful to Emma and proud to bring you this 'Best of the Guests' bonus from the Eastern Promise Archive! And look out for Episode 60 next week, 'cos it's Out of This World...!
